From my research, there is currently no attempt to unify data in one system for school administrations. Still, there are SaSS companies that are working on similar systems for both the private and public sector, just not schools. Specifically, companies like Palantir are built to aggregate massive amounts of data and build solutions with the data. Solutions for the school specific problems that I’m attempting to address are fragmented. Apps like FiveStar that attempt to solve one solution, bathroom / hallway passes, fail even addressing their specific problem; FiveStar requires student action to actually document their activity, which is just not a reliable source of information. Fixing the info divide that's happening on-the-ground in schools is critical to ensure schools are able to properly assist their students. Due to the uniqueness of this use case, there aren't any patterns that are valid to replicate (which is also not legal) / avoid. Good advice I’ve heard online is to avoid looking at software patents at all costs as it opens many different legal issues for you and any companies affiliated with you. The extensive search we have conducted is quite credible, since if better solutions did exist, students and schools would very much be aware of them. Overall, there is a uniqueness to solving these school specific domain issues for data aggregation which due to both legal and ethical issues haven’t really been tackled yet.
